This work combines underwater photography of traumatized coral reef worldwide. My images are printed on aluminum and are enhanced by hand with a painterly application of mixed media. By bringing photos of traumatized and bleached coral “back to life” so to speak with the addition of color and energy is the message I hope to convey. There is still time for us to find ways to restore this fragile and important ecosystem vital for the future of our oceans. The series began after an artist residency at the world-famous Heron Island Research Station on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia in 2010.It has continued with scuba dive locations worldwide.
